Optical scanning may be subject to visual distortion, camera glare, lighting shadows, or printing errors. Food manufacturers frequently alter packaging recipes, factories, and allergen warnings without prior notice.
IF YOU HAVE A LIFE-THREATENING ALLERGY (e.g. Anaphylactic reaction to Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Shellfish, Dairy, Celiac Disease): You must always physically inspect the printed manufacturer packaging and contact the manufacturer directly before consuming any food product. Do not rely exclusively on this software for life-or-death dietary decisions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, accessing, or using the FoodScan AI mobile application or web client (at foodscan.lets.gen.in), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must refrain from using the software.
2. Permitted Use
FoodScan AI is provided for personal, non-commercial consumer food awareness. You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the application.
- Deploy automated scrapers, bots, or excessive high-frequency query bursts that impair server infrastructure.
- Use the application for any unlawful purpose or to disseminate misleading dietary claims.
3. Trademarks & Nominative Fair Use
All brand names, product names, logos, package imagery, and trademarks displayed within the application (e.g. Lay's, Oreo, Amul, Nestlé, Cadbury, etc.) belong strictly to their respective registered trademark holders.
FoodScan AI is an independent software utility. The display of brand names and packaging graphics is solely for consumer product identification and comparative commentary under the doctrine of Nominative Fair Use. FoodScan AI is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any food brand or manufacturer.
4. Open Database License (ODbL) Attribution
Part of the product information, nutritional panels, and ingredient catalogs accessible in this software are derived from Open Food Facts, licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, FoodScan AI and its developers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from:
- Any inaccuracies, misread text, or omissions in OCR ingredient extraction or AI translation.
- Any adverse health effects, allergic reactions, or dietary violations resulting from consumption of scanned foods.
- Temporary interruption or unavailability of cloud edge APIs.
6. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
